You Can't Outwork A Bad Diet, Nutrition Matters
Ok, let’s talk nutrition. I played sports growing up and began running in college when I no longer played competitive tennis but wanted to stay in shape, so working out has always come much easier to me than the food part!
I grew up in a home where my mom cooked great healthy food long before it was the popular thing, like it is now. But that doesn’t mean that once I started living on my own, i completely followed suit. I mean, Ramen noodles, cereal, and toast and eggs were staples for me in college. And post college, I added new dishes to my meal plan, but never counted calories or worried about the right portions, or really what I was eating! I loved food and candy and wine and beer and all things that tasted good!
And then everything changed. My husband was diagnosed with cancer and I learned how much of an impact the food we eat can affect our body. And then a few years later, I headed into my 40’s and I learned the hard way how I had to start paying attention to what I ate, because my body responded differently to certain things than it did when I was younger. Yep, I packed on some lbs! And all during this time, I kept working out, so I was so frustrated that I was not seeing results anymore.
It’s during this time that I really began to learn about the value of our nutrition, putting healthy food into my body. It was not about dieting, because you all know I hate dieting and don’t believe in it, but it was about fueling my body so that I could feel good, fight disease, and help my body to run like the machine it was created to be. I know that we've all heard that we can’t out work a bad diet, but I thought I could. Because I had never really had to pay that much attention to my nutrition, I assumed I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I was working out. But that’’s simply not true. Nutrition is 80% of the equation. We have to eat well if we want to see results.
NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU WORKOUT, IF YOU AREN’T FUELING YOUR BODY PROPERLY, IT’S NOT GOING TO MAKE MUCH DIFFERENCE AND YOU WON’T SEE THE RESULTS YOU ARE LONGING FOR!
But the problem is, how the heck do we know what to eat and what to do? There are a million different people telling us what we should and should not eat and that changes every day! One day it’s low fat, the next day the experts say fat is good. One day it’s no carbs, the next it’s something else. There are so many different diets and weight loss programs that promise us we will lose the weight, hit our goals, be heart healthy, and have all we have ever wanted. UGH! So if this was confusing for me, I figured if it must be for others, as well.
So I am so excited that I have now have some answers that will help all of us normal people! I been working with a nutritionist from Beverly Hills and have been certified to work with clients who want to lose weight with a simple and sustainable program where you can eat what you love and lose weight while still enjoying your favorite foods. And I am also excited to share that I have been working with a Master Trainer and getting certified in a new nutrition program that still focuses on real food and freedom to enjoy foods you love, but uses containers for those that struggle with portion control and need a more specific plan on exactly how and what you should eat.
